"Look at the size of those footprints..."
Steve Martin (voiced by Raymond Burr) reacting in awe to one of the ways Rare Akuma's Shun Goku Satsu can end. Clip from Godzilla, King of the Monsters!

Rare Akuma is a ludicrously overpowered and off-kilter joke edit of Phantom.of.the.Server's own Shin Gouki.

Gameplay[]

Being a joke edit overpowered beyond belief, he has double the amount of health compared to Shin Gouki which slowly regenerates, is immune to throws and is completely unharmed by projectiles as they literally bounce right off him.

He retains most of his edit base's moveset, albeit now ridiculously buffed up. His comboability basically destroys the charts; he's capable of canceling any basic, special, or super attacks into another one of his choosing (even if he whiffs). What's more, all of his attacks are OTG.

His guard has been replaced with a parry, has a chance of bursting out of opponent attacks, and should he SOMEHOW lose all his health, he'll simply revive himself (he can only do it once, however).

If that's not enough, any time he's attacking above the screen, he may possibly take out a duck midflight, causing it to fall from the sky and possibly damage his opponent. And to top it all off, every single one of his attacks (even normals) have a chance of becoming completely unblockable.

Matches involving Rare Akuma may get interrupted at times by narrations of Raymond Burr's portrayal as Steve Martin in the film Godzilla, King of the Monsters!

Movelist[]

Spoiler warning!
This article contains details about something that's best experienced (or at least witnessed) yourself before reading about it.

Since this character's movelist isn't included in the readme, for the sake of this article all moves will be referred to by the titles they are given in the character's coding, regardless of how much they deviate from the moves named.

Special Moves[]

Gouhadouken
Command QCFPlusP (chargeable)
Properties Projectile, Hard Knockdown, OTG, Striker (random chance and if hit by projectile)
Description Rare Akuma shoots out an Orochi Skull that deals 8 hits to his opponent. The attack can be charged up to shoot a larger skull which can be remotely controlled. There's a random chance he'll shoot out an "Akuma Junior", which becomes a temporary striker upon hitting the opponent.

Attempting to counter this projectile with one of your own is not recommended, as doing so will cause the collision to produce an Akuma Junior.

Akuma Juniors
Command HCBPlusP
Prerequisites At least half a power stock
Properties Striker
Description Rare Akuma farts out a smaller version of himself that attacks the opponent for a period of time. He can fart up to 3 juniors at a single time. The little tykes are able to perform some of their daddy's specials, hit just as hard, and are frighteningly nimble.

They're not invincible however, and can easily be taken out with a few hits.

Goushouryuuken
Command FDDFPlusP
Properties Hard Knockdown, OTG
Notes Can also be used mid-air
Description The original Dragon Punch powered to the Nth degree; Rare Akuma performs his variation of the iconic uppercut attack. It acts somewhat similar to Shin Gouki's version of it, with the only big differences being it's an OTG move now, performs far faster, is usable mid-air, and has Rare Akuma leap ridiculously high. Button strength determines the height of the leap.
Zankuu Hadouken
Command Mid-Air, QCFPlusP
Properties Projectile, Hard Knockdown, OTG, Striker (random chance and if hit by projectile)
Description Rare Akuma shoots out two Orochi skulls downward towards the ground. Spare for the additional projectile, this move functions just like his regular Gouhadouken would. Button strength determines projectile speed.
Tatsumaki Zankuu Kyaku
Command QCBPlusK
Properties Hard Knockdown, OTG
Notes Can also be done mid-air
Description Rare Akuma performs his version of the Hurricane Kick, with the only twist being that the kick functions just as it would on the ground mid-air without gravity getting in the way. Aside from that factor and being cancelable into additional moves, it's not too different from your run of the mill shotoclone fare.
Ashura Senkuu
Command FDDFPlusPP or BDDBPlusPP
Properties Evasion
Description One of the original Akuma's signature staples; Rare Akuma glides either forward or backward depending on the direction of the command, evading attacks whilst also being able to warp through the screen.
Zenpou Tenshin
Command QCBPlusP
Properties Evasion, Projectile, Homing, Invincibility Frames, OTG
Description Rare Akuma rolls forward, spawning a few small Orochi Skulls as he rolls which home in on the opponent. Button strength determines how far he rolls, along with increasing the amount of projectiles spawned.
CHOCOLATE
Command QCFPlusK
Properties Projectile, Stun, OTG, Deals No Damage
Description Rare Akuma shoots a beam which transforms his opponent into a dessert-related item on hit. All the opponent can do in this form is simply move around whilst being unable to perform any sort of attack until the transformation wears off.
Tenma Shurettou
Command DDPlusP
Properties "Counter", Deals No Damage
Description A move first used by Shin Gouki; Rare Akuma takes on a parrying stance in preparation to counter. However, instead of counterattacking on hit, Rare Akuma will teleport behind his opponent whilst spawning a Kawarimi in his old place.

Command QCFPlusKK
Prerequisites At least one power stock
Properties Fullscreen, Projectile, Hard Knockdown, OTG
Description Rare Akuma retreats offscreen, and comes back rolling a titanic katamari of various characters towards his opponent in an attempt to submerge them into it.

Disco Trip Satsu
Command PXPXFKAPZ
Prerequisites At least three power stocks
Properties Instant KO, Unblockable, Fullscreen, Throw
Notes Can also be used mid-air
Description Rare Akuma's version of the Shun Goku Satsu has him immediately teleport and grab his opponent from behind, beating the living crap out of them in a 999-hit combo to the tune of various dance songs. The final strike has Rare Akuma finish his opponent off in one of three outcomes:
  • Outcome 1 - The opponent falls from above, instantly exploding upon striking the ground in a brief reenactment of a Japanese Sega Saturn commercial that starred Segata Sanshiro; a character created by Sega to promote the console in Japan.
  • Outcome 2 - Rare Akuma morphs into a giant and crushes his opponent with an apocalyptic stomp. Occasionally, Raymond Burr will comment on the size of the footprints created after the KO.
  • Outcome 3 - The opponent wakes up in space, and investigates their surroundings until coming face to face with the ruins of the Statue of Liberty, now imprinted with Akuma's likeness. The opponent collapses from the horror of it all.
